Colorado Offers Sales Tax Sourcing Rules Grace Period

What if you need more time to comply with Colorado’s December 1st deadline?

Colorado’s recently adopted Emergency Rules require State-wide collection of sales tax for all Colorado State-collected local jurisdictions by in-state retailers and by out-of-state retailers with economic nexus as of December 1st, 2018.

The Colorado Department of Revenue  selected December 1st, 2018 as the Emergency Sourcing Rules effective match that of the new Emergency Rules on Economic Nexus/ Wayfair.

The Department’s website indicates, “We know this is a big change for some businesses. The Department will offer a grace period through March 31, 2019, to comply with these changes to ensure retailers have sufficient time to make the required systems changes. Businesses will be granted the waiver automatically until then.”
