You can use the Sellers Claim for Refund (DR 0137) to claim a refund for certain taxes previously remitted directly to the Department of Revenue. Now, you can file the Sellers Claim for Refund using Revenue Online.
Which tax types can file a Sellers Claim for Refund online?
- Sales Tax
- Consumer Use Tax
- County Lodging
- Local Marketing
- Wage Withholding
- Fuel Tax
- International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)
- Passenger Mile Tax
- Cigarette Tax
- Tobacco Products Tax
- Nicotine Products Tax
- Marijuana Tax
- Liquor Tax
Important Note: Different tax types such as sales tax vs. consumer use tax must be submitted separately.

- Established Colorado Taxpayers:
Taxpayers with Revenue Online Access.
Who have previously filed returns
Have a Colorado Account Number (CAN)
Are registered with a Federal Employment Identification Number (FEIN) or Social Security (SSN) - Taxpayers with supporting documentation to attach to the claim.
How to File a Claim for Refund Using Revenue Online
Follow these steps to file a claim for refund using Revenue Online. For more information about this process, visit Tax.Colorado.gov/Sellers-Refund-Claim.
- Step 1: Review the instructions and documentation requirements based on tax type prior to filing your request. These are available on the Claim for Refund Form (DR 0137).
- Step 2: Visit gov/RevenueOnline and log into your account.
- Step 3: Click “Additional Actions.”
- Step 4: Then click “Submit A Claim for Refund (DR 0137)” and follow the prompts.
Important note: To make a claim for sales taxes paid in home rule, self-collecting jurisdictions, you must contact them directly to obtain refund information. Contact telephone numbers for home rule cities are listed in the Colorado Sales/Use Tax Rates (DR 1002).
